The issue of granting Georgia's NATO Membership Action Plan has not been discussed at NATO`s recent high level meeting , NATO Secretary General's Special Representative James Appathurai said in an interview with GPB`s First Channel, commenting on the issue of the September summit of the North Atlantic Alliance.

"The Georgian people should not jump the gun and try to get the action plan for NATO membership ahead of time. Of course, Georgia has done much in the way of integration into NATO, but today it is faced with the question: what path of development to choose? Also, will it be consist to the rapprochement with NATO?" he said.

Appathurai called on Georgia to go ahead 'step by step'.

"I have not heard about any new regulations concerning NATO's enlargement," he said.
Furthermore, NATO's Special Representative believes that "a new step will be put forward on Georgia's accession to NATO in September."
