Energy markets often fall under a certain political influence which in turn leads to geopolitical instability, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said at the opening of the 13th Georgian International Oil, Gas, Infrastructure and Energy Conference.
"International energy markets have undergone significant changes in recent years. The demand for energy resources is growing every day and against the background of limited reserves, this factor causes rise in prices," the minister said.
On this basis, intensification of the existing energy cooperation becomes vital for ensuring energy security of states, according to Kaladze.
Saying that Georgia is a reliable energy partner, Kaladze stressed that the development of the Southern Gas Corridor project is important for this country.
"Implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project is recognised as one of the most important tasks of the EU energy strategy, for with implementation of this project, European countries will be able to satisfy their ever-growing need for energy resources," the minister said.
