The director responsible for Eastern and Southern Europe, Turkey and Central Asia in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, Jennifer May paid an official visit to Georgia.

Bilateral Georgian - Canadian political consultations were held as part of the visit. The sides discussed a wide range of issues of political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to the intensification of relations in the sphere of education, culture and strengthening the legal framework, as well as an exchange of high-level visits. The matter rests in Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird's visit to Georgia in the near future.

Canada is Georgia's key partner which actively supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and its integration into European and Euro-Atlantic organisations, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
