Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania met with the commander of the U.S Army Europe, Lt. Gen. Donald Campbell, Georgia's Defense Ministry told Trend on May 22.

Campbell arrived in Georgia as part of the eighth annual conference of senior sergeants of the armies of European countries.

The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.

Alasania thanked the U.S. for its support of Georgia in developing defense capabilities, and informed the guest about the reforms in Georgia's defense sector.

One of the main topics of discussion was the participation of the Georgian contingent in the ISAF mission and the inclusion of Georgia in the "Decisive support" mission in 2014. Alasania talked about the inclusion of the Georgian contingent in the EU mission in the Central African Republic.
