Georgian and Armenian sides agreed on initiating direct flights from Batumi to Yerevan, Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said after signing the document on cooperation.

Georgian and Armenian sides agreed on initiating direct flights from Batumi to Yerevan, Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said after signing the document on cooperation.

"This agreement gives us the opportunity to intensify the relations," he said. "We are pleased that we have agreed. We will work on initiating the direct flights."

Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze stressed that some 1.3 million Armenian tourists visited Georgia last year. This area has great potential for development.

"This area of the economy has great potential for development," she said. "The agreement signed today relates to the regulation of these issues. Regarding the exchange of confidential information, it is an ordinary agreement for friendly countries."
