NATO offers Georgia a new, basic package of cooperation, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at a press conference in Brussels before the NATO ministerial meeting.

"One of the main questions that we intend to discuss is an open door policy," Rasmussen said. "Once again, I stress the importance of an open door policy, as it will benefit not only the countries wishing to become full members of the military-political bloc, but the alliance itself. Our basic principles are unchanged. We support countries in the integration process into NATO. No country will stop this process."

However, Rasmussen stressed that it is necessary to stress Georgia from this point of view.

"We propose Georgia a new, basic package of cooperation with NATO," he said. "This will help it to be even closer to NATO."
