The 23rd battalion of the second Infantry Brigade of Georgian armed forces has returned from Afghanistan.
The servicemen carried out a mission at the Lezernik base for four months as part of the U.S. contingent, Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend on July 28.
The 23rd battalion is the last Georgian unit that carried out a mission under the Georgian flag in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.
From now on, about 700 Georgian servicemen will serve in Afghanistan; they will mainly be engaged in training the Afghan army.
