Around 1.192 million tourists have visited Georgia since early 2014, which is 11 percent more than in the same period of 2013, Georgian Interior Ministry told Trend on Aug.7.

Almost 2.914 million people crossed Georgia's state border during the reporting period, which is 4 percent more than in the same period of 2013, the ministry said.

Some 552,556 foreign citizens passed in transit through Georgia during the reporting period, which is 4 percent less than in the same period of 2013.

The vast majority of the tourists that have visited Georgia since early 2014 included citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine, according to the ministry.
