Some 1,703 fires were registered in Georgia in the first six months of 2014.

Georgia's Interior Ministry said on Aug. 14 that the fires throughout this period killed 38 people and injured 61.

In most cases (in 1005 cases) the reasons for the fires were not found out, according to a message from the ministry.

In 333 cases, the fires were caused due to careless use of fire, in 149 cases - due to violation of rules of operating electrical equipment and heating stoves, according to the message.

Fires during this period inflicted damage to 327 buildings.

Some 1,585 fires were registered in Georgia in the same period of 2013.

These fires killed 28 and injured 48 people. The causes of 905 fires could not be found out. In 257 cases the fires were caused due to careless handling of fire, in 147 cases - violation of the rules of operating electrical equipment and heating stoves.
