The construction of the initial combat training center started in Akhalkalaki.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Defense Minister Irakli Alasania and head of the General Staff, Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend Aug. 14.
The construction will be carried out in two stages. The first phase must be completed in late 2015 and envisages the construction of the staff, the dining room and the barracks. The second phase will be completed by 2019. By this time, a sports complex, dormitories for sergeants and officers will be built.
The recruits will be involved in the initial combat training, after which they will be sent to various military units.
