NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen commented on his meeting with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili.

"I had a good meeting with Margvelashvili. At NATO Summit in UK we will strengthen ties with NATO partners, including Georgia. Our cooperation goes a long way," Rasmussen tweeted on Sept. 4.

"Tomorrow we will launch a new cooperation package to help strengthen Georgia's defence, and prepare for membership," Rasmussen said in another tweet.

He also called on Georgia to continue reforms and respect for the rule of law.

Margvelashvili and Rasmussen met Sept. 4 in Newport, Wales during the NATO Summit.
