Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze asked Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz to open an embassy in Tbilisi as soon as possible.

During a joint press conference with the Austrian FM on Sept. 10, Panjikidze said that she thanked Sebastian Kurz for supporting Georgia, as well as economic cooperation and expressed the hope that these ties will deepen.

"We discussed the bilateral relations. I asked the minister to open an embassy of Austria in the shortest possible time. I also thanked him for the support to Georgia, and I especially want to emphasize our economic cooperation," Panjikidze said.

"The activities of the Austrian Development Agency in Georgia are very important. We also touched upon the situation in Ukraine, NATO Wales Summit and its outcomes, and agreed that our ties will deepen even more. We see this visit as a support for our country," Minister Panjikidze added.

Minister Kurz thanked his counterpart for cooperation and said that relations between the two countries will further deepen.

"We talked about the integration with the EU, as well as economic issues. We also mulled the issue of continuation of our agency's work in the future," Kurz said.
