Tbilisi, Georgia, Sept.24
By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Several dozen of families have been evacuated from the Shekvetili village of Ozurgeti region in West Georgia, where several villages have been flooded as a result of the water level rise in a river.

A five-point storm was fixed on the coast of Adjara on Sept.24 in the morning, which poses a threat of flooding of Batumi's coastal districts, Emergency Management Department of Georgia's Interior Ministry said on Sept.24.

Special rescue services have been mobilized since Sept.23 to fight against the natural disaster, however the gale in this region causes difficulties, the Emergency Management Department said.

Several districts of Batumi are suffering from power outages.

Currently, the preparatory work on water pumping and restoring of the electricity supply is underway in West Georgia, according to the Emergency Management Department of Georgia's Interior Ministry.
