Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze and CEO of the Partnership Fund of the country Irakli Kovzanadze became familiar with the construction of Gardaban thermal power plant (TPP) of combined cycle Oct.1.

During familiarization Vice Prime Minister of Georgia was informed that more than 50 percent of planned activities were implemented within the framework of thermal power plants construction.

Assembling of gas turbines manufactured by "General Electric" began at a power plant, foundation laying work for the basic units was completed and the construction of ancillary buildings is being carried out, according to the head of the Partnership Fund.

Kovzanadze reported that the commissioning of TPP is planned for 2015.

The project of thermal power plant construction is implemented by the Partnership Fund and its subsidiary "Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia" company.

The plant will annually produce 1.8 billion kilowatt / hours of electricity, and, in case of problems in the energy system of Georgia, TPP will ensure uninterrupted power supply for a certain period of time as soon as possible.

The investment cost of the project is $220 million.

Construction of TPP is carried out by the Turkish "Chalik Enerji".
