Opera troupe of the Tbilisi state opera and ballet theatre named after Zakaria Paliashvili will leave for Hungary October 13, to participate in the Armel Opera Festival.

Tbilisi opera and ballet theatre will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera "Mithridates, King of Pontus" (directed by David Sakvarelidze) in the Hungarian Opera House October 16.

The opera will be performed by the Pannon Philharmonic orchestra under the conduction of David Kintsurashvili and the soloists of Tbilisi opera and ballet theatre Irina Taboridze, Nino Chachua, Tatia Jibladze, Salome Djikia and Irakli Murjikneli. The main parts will be performed by the foreign opera singers selected on the results of the competition - tenor Sébastien Obrecht (Mithridates) and soprano Boram Lee (Aspasia).

The festival will also be attended by the Theatre named after Josef Kajetan Tyl (Czech Republic), Neue Oper Wien (Austria), Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn (Switzerland), the National Theater in Szeged (Hungary).

The festival opened October 9 and will end October 17.

The well-known annual festival-competition of Hungary Armel Opera Festival takes 5 new plays of the 5 opera houses from different countries each season, among which modern performances are priority.
