The new component of the 'Produce in Georgia' program for promoting micro and small entrepreneurship was presented in Tbilisi on Oct.20.

The meeting was opened by the country's Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kvirikashvili provided information about the details of the project.

He said under the project, those interested in financing, may get loans for expanding their business. The areas of production and services are not limited and an entrepreneur is free to choose the scope of business.

Aside from that entrepreneurs will be able to benefit from consultations and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The total budget of the program that will be implemented throughout 26 months, is 20 million lari ($1=1.75 lari).

The project will start from Nov.1. The maximum amount of the loan for the budding entrepreneur will be 5,000 lari, while this figure will be equal to 15,000 lari for the group of entrepreneurs.

Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ketevan Bochorishvili said the program will allow to create thousands of new jobs.

"It is expected that the implementation of the program will allow to reduce the economic inequality between large cities and regions," he said.

Director of Business Development Agency Giorgi Tsikolia, for his part, said that the program aims to develop the micro and small business and regional markets, support entrepreneurs, increase the population's income and create new jobs in the regions.
