Georgia's Interior Ministry launched an investigation into a racist incident that took place in Tbilisi on Oct. 23.

The Georgian writer Lela Kodalashvili disseminated information about a racist incident that took place in a bus in Tbilisi.

She said the passengers of a municipal bus in Tbilisi kicked a dark-skinned foreigner out of the vehicle. As Kodalashvili said, the reason for such behaviour was a panic due to the spread of Ebola. She said the passenger yelled that he was French, but it had no effect.

The ministry said Oct. 24 that the investigation is being carried out under the article 142 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies a violation of the equality of people irrespective of their race, skin color, language, sex and religion.

The eyewitness will be interrogated.
