Georgia's foreign trade turnover (excluding non-organized trade) amounted to $8.376 billion in January-September 2014 or by 10 percent more compared to the same period of 2013, the Georgian Statistics Committee told Trend Oct. 24.
The exports totaled $ 2.153 billion (seven percent growth), while imports - $6.223 billion (12 percent growth) during this period.
The negative balance of trade amounted to $4.07 billion or 49 percent of the total foreign trade turnover.
Thus, Georgia's trade turnover with the EU countries increased by eight percent and amounted to $2.187 billion in January-September 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.
The exports amounted to $458 million (23 percent more), import - $1.729 billion (five percent more).
The EU countries' share in Georgia's foreign trade turnover for the period was 26 percent, including exports - 21 percent, while imports - 28 percent (the corresponding figures for January-September of 2013 - 27, 18 and 30 percent).
Around 31 percent of the trade deficit accounted for the EU countries (36 percent - in January-September 2013).
Georgia's trade turnover with the CIS countries increased by 0.4 percent and amounted to $2.612 billion in January-September 2014.
The exports amounted to $1.128 billion (one percent more), import - $1.484 billion (0.3 percent more).
The CIS countries' share in Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to 31 percent. The share of exports is 52 percent, imports - 24 percent (the corresponding figures for January-September of 2013 - 34, 56 and 27 percent).
Nine percent of the trade deficit accounted for the CIS countries in the reporting period (in the previous year - ten percent).
