By Claude Salhani - Trend:

Any instability in Georgia should be a matter of widespread international concern, regardless of who is in power, Martin Seiff, a US expert based in Washington DC, told Trend Nov. 5.

He said Georgia has been an exceptionally sensitive flashpoint.

"In the short term the latest developments are clearly successful for Russia," Seiff added.

He also said the latest development in the Caucasus should be seen as a reflection of Russian president's policy towards Ukraine.

Seiff said the development was very well understood in Georgia, since the country has two breakaway regions, successfully maintained by Russia.

Earlier, following a meeting of the political council of the 'Georgian Dream' bloc, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said he dismissed the Defense Minister Irakli Alasania.

After Alasania, his associates - the State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili and Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze resigned as well.
