Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said Nov. 10 that the army is the pride of the nation and he will not allow politicization.

Garibashvili made this statement after a meeting with the new Defense Minister and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Mindia Janelidze.

The main topic of the meeting was the prospect of developing the Georgian army and the further plans.

Garibashvili said that the government will do everything to improve the combat capability of the armed forces and their development.

"Together with Mindia, we summarized the recent events in the country and agreed that the Georgian army is our pride, it was and will be apolitical," he said. "We will stick to this course."

"The Georgian government will do everything to develop the army, to improve its efficiency and the conditions of the military service."
