Georgian highways have become paralyzed following a snowfall early on Nov. 25.

The traffic on the Gudauri-Kobi highway section running to the border of Georgia and Russia has been restricted, the Department of Highways of the Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Ministry told Trend.

It is allowed to use the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway section only with special anti-skid chains on the vehicles' tyres.

It was also prohibited to stop vehicles at the 134th-135th kilometres of this highway's section (the Dariali Gorge). The vehicles going through on this section of the highway under the direct control of the traffic police.

Traffic was also restricted at the Goderdzi crossing in Adjara and Gombori crossing in the eastern Georgia.

Earlier, the first snow that fell on the outskirts of Tbilisi caused traffic congestion and hours-long traffic jams in the city center.
