If the NATO member countries' leadership feels there are facts supporting the political persecution of opponents in Georgia, this will not contribute to rapprochement with the Alliance, the NATO secretary general's special representative for South Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai said Dec. 4.

He made this statement in Tbilisi Dec. 4 at a joint briefing with the Georgian State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Davit Bakradze.

Appathurai said that there is such a danger and it must be avoided.
