Georgian president leaves for Turkmenistan for official visit

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili left for Turkmenistan for an official visit on Dec.14.

During the visit, the president will meet with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, following which they will hold a joint briefing, Georgian Presidential Administration told Trend.

The two presidents will hold a one-on-one and an expanded meeting.

During the visit, Turkmenistan and Georgia will sign a number of documents aiming to intensify the trade, transport relations, as well as cooperation in the sphere of tourism.

Margvelashvili will visit the Independence Monument of Turkmenistan and the Mausoleum of the first president of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov, as well as the National Museum.

The Georgian delegation includes Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagania, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kakha Baindurashvili and Secretary of the National Security Council of Georgia Irina Imerlishvili.

The delegation will return to Georgia on Dec.15.
