President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has been invited to participate in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War II in Moscow in May 2015, the Georgian foreign ministry said.

The invitation was sent via the Swiss embassy, and was received in July 2014.

However, there was a mistake, which concerned the president's patronymic name. In this regard, the invitation was returned via the Swiss embassy to correct the mistake.

Afterwards, they did not receive the corrected invitation from Russia, the Georgian foreign ministry said.

It should be stressed that the presidents of the US and Lithuania refused from the participation in the festivities in connection with Ukraine's events.
