Issues of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and NATO were discussed during the official visit of the Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces Major General Vakhtang Kapanadze to Belgium, the ministry of defense of Georgia told Trend Jan.21.

During the first day, Kapanadze visited the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, and met with The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Philip Breedlove.

"I am honored to receive the head of the general staff of the Georgian Armed Forces," said Breedlove at the meeting. "NATO continues to cooperate with Georgia, which is the second largest participant in the NATO mission "Resolute Support" in Afghanistan."

During his visit to Belgium, the head of the general staff of Georgian armed forces took part in the meeting of the NATO military committee at the level of chiefs of defense, where the participation of countries which are not members of the North Atlantic Alliance in the "Resolute Support" mission in Afghanistan was discussed.

The head of the general staff of Georgian armed forces will conduct bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the Czech Republic, Belgium, France, Poland and Ukraine in NATO headquarters.
