Georgian Defense Minister to discuss situation in region with NATO Secretary General

The Minister of Defense of Georgia Mindia Janelidze is participating in the NATO ministerial, the Georgian defense ministry told Trend Feb.4.

The ministerial, which is held February 4-5 at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels, is attended by the defense ministers of member countries and partners of NATO.

It is reported that Mindia Janelidze will meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg within the framework of ministerial.

NATO headquarters will also host a meeting of NATO-Georgia Commission at the level of ministers of defense Feb. 5.

Jens Stoltenberg will open the meeting of defense ministers. Speech of the minister of defense of Georgia is scheduled to be made. In his speech, he will touch upon the situation in the region and the existing challenges. Mindia Janelidze will introduce colleagues with the reforms conducted in the Georgian defense system and plans for the future.

The mechanisms of NATO-Georgia cooperation, the process of implementation of the NATO-Georgia package and existing resources and capabilities will be discussed at the meeting.

Janelidze will also meet with his counterparts from the US, UK, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Belgium within the framework of the visit.
