Georgia is stepping up control at its borders and strategic facilities in the wake of terror attacks in Paris.

These security measures will be realized at a decision taken during a meeting of the Security and Crisis Management Council, chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

"The meeting discussed security throughout the country in the context of situation existing in the world and in regions," RIA Novosti reported citing Georgian government's press office.

"The Council discussed strengthening of preventive measures and taking additional security actions," according to the government press office. "It is planned to reinforce control at borders and strategic facilities."

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Security and Crisis Management Council Mindia Janelidze, Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli, Interior Minister Giorgi Mgebrishvili, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Head of the State Security Service Vakhtang Gomelauri, Head of the Intelligence Department David Sujashvili and Chairman of Parliament's Defense Committee Irakli Sesiashvili.

A series of terror attacks were perpetrated in Paris on Nov. 13.

Several terrorists opened fire in a restaurant in the 10th arrondissement in Paris, and three explosions occurred near the Stade de France, where President Francois Hollande was watching a friendly soccer match between France and Germany.

Another attack was carried out in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, where terrorists took hostages in Bataclan Theatre.

According to the latest reports, 129 people were killed, and about 300 were wounded in the attacks.
