Tbilisi supports Tehran's active role in establishment of peace and stability in the region, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said on Saturday, Irna reported.

He made the remarks during his meeting with Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri on the sidelines of the 20th anniversary conference of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

Georgian president welcomed expansion of ties between Tehran and Tbilisi, adding that connecting the Caucasus to the Middle East can enhance peace and stability in the region and result in the development of regional states.

He urged increase of negotiations between Tehran and Tbilisi high-ranking officials, adding that development of Georgian infrastructure and transit routes are top priorities of the country's government.

He also called Black Sea the sea of peace, noting that all the Black Sea littoral states including Bulgaria and Rumania are interested at expansion of region's transit routes.

Tbilisi supports Iran's active role in establishment of peace in the region, Margvelashvili said adding that Georgian people are interested at Iranian poetry and culture.

The 20th anniversary conference of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan ended Saturday afternoon with an emphasis on expansion of multilateralism and fighting terrorism.

Many heads of states from the world and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) attended the ceremony.

Turkmen and Afghan presidents, Pakistani Prime minister as well as Indian vice president, in their speeches in the conference called for implementing TAPI gas pipeline as pre-requisite for booming the regional economy.

Turkmenistan celebrated the 20th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality in the presence of delegates from around 70 countries, including Iran on Saturday.

First Vice President Jahangiri, heading a high ranking delegation attended the anniversary of Turkmenistan neutrality.

The year 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of the recognition by the international community of the legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan in accordance with a respective United Nations General Assembly resolution.
