Three servicemen of the Turkish Army were killed in a skirmish with the members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the Cukurca District of Turkey’s Hakkari Province, Hurriyet newspaper reported Dec. 2.

Three other servicemen were wounded in the skirmish.

Many terrorists were neutralized, according to the newspaper.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for more than 30 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.

The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
