Turkey is eyeing to build a wall along the state border with Armenia, the Turkish newspaper Star reported Jan. 11.

The wall is supposed to help fight terrorism, smuggling and prevent illegal border crossing.

The three-meter high concrete walls are planned to be built in the Turkish provinces of Ardahan, Kars and Igdir.

The proposal is being discussed by the Turkish national defense and finance ministries, according to the newspaper.

The work is currently underway in Turkey to build a wall along the border with Syria, designed to prevent illegal immigration from Syria to Turkey. The construction of the wall is expected to be completed in April 2017.
