Russia and Turkey are firmly committed to strengthening of bilateral multi-aspect cooperation, said Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, RIA Novosti reports.

“Turkey is an important and promising partner of Russia. Some time ago, our bilateral relations, as it is known, were tested for strength. Now we can state with certainty that restoration of Russia-Turkey ties has been completed. We return to the normal partnership,” noted Putin.

He said that during the talks with participation of members of the two countries’ governments and heads of leading energy companies, the two sides mulled in detail the implementation of the Russian-Turkish cooperation program for 2017-2020.

According to Putin, special attention was paid to economic cooperation, and removal of restrictions and barriers hampering the expansion of trade and investment exchange.

“It is important that we managed to stop the fall of mutual trade,” said Putin.

In the first months of this year, a slight increase of about 3 percent was observed in the trade, added the Russian president.
