The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Feb.1 that it was making contacts with some European governments to convince them to take some pro-Muslim Brotherhood satellite channels off the air, Anadolu Agency reported.
It said these channels incited hate, violence and terrorism.
"Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry instructed Egypt's embassies in some European countries to begin pursuing the matter," the ministry said in a statement.
It added that the move came in the light of Egyptian efforts to fight terrorism.
The ministry accused what it called "pro-Brotherhood channels" of broadcasting material that blatantly incited violence and terrorism.
The ministry did not specify the European states it was contacting in this regard.
The Egyptian government designated the Brotherhood, the movement from which ousted President Mohamed Morsi hails, as a "terrorist organization" in late 2013.
The group has consistently denied accusations of violence and says it is committed to peaceful activism.
After Morsi's ouster in July of 2013, Egypt took several Islamist channels off the air, accusing them of inciting hatred.
