Israeli soldiers shot dead an Israeli civilian, and wounded two others, early Friday, in a case of mistaken identity near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, a military spokesman said dpa reported
He said troops at a roadblock noticed a car speeding toward them, and signaled it to stop. When the driver did not comply, the soldiers, fearing the car was driven by a Palestinian militant intent on ramming them, opened fire.
The fatality was a 60-year-old man.
As the soldiers were examining by the car, one of them was hit by a truck travelling in the opposite direction, and lightly injured, the spokesman said.
