Israel Defense Forces soldiers shot and killed a 15-year-old Palestinian boy trying to cross the security fence from Gaza into Israel east of the Gaza International Airport, amid mass rallies marking the 34tt anniversary of Land Day, Palestinian news agencies reported Tuesday.
The teenager was identified as Mohammad Zeid Al Farmawi from Qishtat neighborhood in Rafah, and according to the Palestinian sources, Al Farmawi was already dead when the paramedics arrived at the scene, Haaretz reported.
The incident occurred several days after two Israeli soldiers, Major Eliraz Peretz and Staff Sergeant Ilan Sviatkovsky, were killed in Gaza in an exchange of fire between IDF troops and Hamas militants, seen planting explosives along the security fence on the border.
