South African Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Ebrahim said on Thursday that South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane is to attend the oath taking ceremony of the new Iranian President Hassan Rohani, IRNA reported.

South African Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Ebrahim said on Thursday that South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane is to attend the oath taking ceremony of the new Iranian President Hassan Rohani, IRNA reported.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Iranian president is to take place on August 4 in Tehran.

Following election win of President-elect Hassan Rohani, the South African President Jacob Zuma cabled a congratulatory message to felicitate him on the occasion.

In his message, the South African president expressed hoped to witness further expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries during presidency of Hassan Rohani.

The South African foreign minister is scheduled to confer with high ranking officials during her stay in Tehran to explore avenues for broadening relations and cooperation between the two countries.

South Africa is to host the 11th Iran-South Africa Joint Economic Commission meeting.
