Ukraine’s Poroshenko says ceasefire ‘begins to work’

On Wednesday (Sept. 24), for the first time throughout the long period of holding anti-terrorist operations in Donbas, Ukraine didn't lose any soldiers, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko said, Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported Sept. 25.

"Yesterday was the first day for many months, when Ukraine did not have any loses. This is the first day of real armistice. Glory to Ukraine!," according to a message posted on Poroshenko's Twitter account.

Poroshenko's press service said that during a speech at the 12th Extraordinary Congress of Judges, the president also noted that there haven't been any wounded in the Ukrainian military in the last 24 hours.

"Today is the first day for many weeks and months, as Ukraine has no killed or wounded, when finally, the ceasefire began to work," Poroshenko said.

He added that it is "a real holiday" for him.

"Imagine, no one died, no one was wounded. There were only two shootouts during the day at Debaltsevo [Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine]," Poroshenko said.

Earlier, Poroshenko said that on Sept. 25 a special mission of the OSCE will arrive in Kharkiv. The mission will assist in preventing the militants' attempts to violate the ceasefire.
