France sends experts to Moscow in connection with Total CEO's death

France sent three experts of the Bureau for investigation of accidents to Moscow in connection with the death of the president of the Total oil and gas company Christophe de Margerie, RIA Novosti said.

Total previously issued a statement in which it confirmed the death of de Margerie.

President of Total, one of the world's largest oil companies, Christophe de Margerie, was killed during the take off from Moscow's Vnukovo-3 airport on the night of Oct.21.

His plane crashed into the snow removal vehicle run by a drunk driver, according to preliminary data, Russian investigative committee said.

Three crew members were killed together with de Margerie.

Russian investigative committee said the accident happened because of a mistake by the air traffic control and the actions of the snowplow driver. Bad weather conditions and the possibility of a mistake by the pilot are also considered. A criminal investigation has been launched.

Christophe de Margerie, 63, arrived in Moscow in order to attend the meeting of the consultative council on foreign investment in the Russian Federation, which was held in Gorky Oct.20 by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
