Canada has raised the country's terrorism threat level to medium from low because of the rise of radical Islamist groups statements, a government official stated.
The threat level was raised because of "general chatter [of the Islamist groups]," the official told Reuters Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney, Jean-Christophe de Le Rue, said that the raise of the threat level "is not the result of a specific threat."
On Monday, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Steven Blaney said that the car attack on two Canadian soldiers that took place near Montreal was linked to terrorism.
