Unidentified persons wearing hoods opened fire at police officers on morning Feb. 9 in the southern French city of Marseille, the RIA Novosti news agency reported citing the BFMTV.
The quarter, where the incident took place, was cordoned off by the special forces.
The incident occurred on the eve of the French prime minister, Manuel Valls's visit to Marseille.
He is due to arrive in the city on Feb. 9 and stay until Feb. 10.
