Trend:

The death toll in the 'Admiral' shopping center fire in the Kazan city rose to 13, RIA Novosti reported citing a source in the emergency services of Russia's Tatarstan Republic.

The source said the rescuers recovered from the rubble one more body of a person killed in the fire.

The fire in one of Kazan's largest shopping centers, the 'Admiral', started March 11 and quickly spread over an area of 4,000 square meters.

According to the latest data, over 50 people suffered burns and injuries. There can be more than 20 people under the rubble.

The fire started in a café, attached to the trade center. The main department of Russia's emergency situations ministry for Tatarstan said the spread of the fire was contributed by the ignorant actions of the trade center's employees and the presence of combustible building materials at the site.

The scale of the disaster can be judged by the number of the emergency situations ministry forces involved in the extinguishing of the fire: over 900 people and over 180 pieces of equipment, including helicopters and a fire train.
