Three people have reportedly been shot in Sunset, Louisiana, including a police officer. Eight hostages are reportedly being held at gunpoint, Sputnik reported.

According to the local CBS affiliate, a suspected shooter has barricaded himself inside a mini-mart. The Advocate reports that eight hostages are being held, citing Louisiana State Police spokesman Sgt. James Anderson.

"We are at the scene right now. We are fixing to make entry into the store to apprehend the suspect. One officer shot and two individuals were stabbed at another location," said St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, according to local WAFB.

No deaths have been reported at this time. Local law enforcement say that the wounded officer has been airlifted to a nearby hospital. He is reportedly "responsive."

State troopers on en route to the scene, roughly 70 miles west of Baton Rouge, according to Superintendent Mike Edmonson. He also tells the Associated Press that the shooting began near a convenience store.
