Russian, US diplomats discuss steps to implement Iran nuclear deal

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov on Thursday met Lynne Tracy, deputy chief of mission at the US embassy in Moscow, to discuss next steps needed toward implementing a landmark accord for Tehran reached in Vienna in July, TASS reported.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said the two diplomats "discussed further steps to implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program alongside a number of current issues of Russian-US relations."

Iran and six major world powers struck a historic nuclear deal on July 14 bringing sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on Tehran's nuclear program.

The deal containing nearly 100 pages of text - including five annexes - followed more than two weeks of intense negotiations in Austria's capital involving foreign ministers from seven countries - Iran, Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - and the EU's foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini.
