Protests in the Romanian capital of Bucharest, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta and the dismissal of Bucharest district mayor Cristian Piedone, have begun subsiding, currently some 5,000 people are left, the Romanian media reported Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, about 25,000 people gathered in the center of Bucharest, on Tuesday, asking the government to take responsibility for the Colectiv nightclub's incident, when at least 27 people were killed.

According to the local media, a group of protesters went to the Colectiv club to lay flowers and light candles in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
