Russia suspends passenger flights to Egypt

Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 7

Trend:

All the passenger flights from Russia to Egypt were suspended, RIA Novosti reported citing Russian Federal Air Transport Agency Nov. 7.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin agreed Nov. 6 with a proposal to suspend flights to Egypt until establishing the causes of the Russian A321 aircraft's crash in Sinai, Egypt, on Oct. 31.

"On Nov. 6, 2015, at 20:00 Moscow time all the Russian commercial airlines and general aviation operators will suspend all regular, transit and charter flights with passengers on board to the points located in the Arab Republic of Egypt," said the Federal Air Transport Agency.

Russians in Egypt will be taken home on regular and non-regular flights.

"Information on the flight status - time, date and carrier - will be conveyed to passengers, who are in Egypt, using all possible ways of communication," noted the Federal Air Transport Agency.

The Agency also explained that the passengers and their luggage will fly on separate flights, and advises them to take in their hand luggage the most needed personal belongings, including baby food and essential drugs.

"There will be special information stands at Egyptian airports - Cairo, Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada - and the representatives of Russian airlines and tour operators will be working there to fully provide passengers with information about what further actions need to be taken," noted the Air Transport Agency.
