The UN Security Council may shortly hold an emergency meeting after North Korea conducted a rocket launch on Sunday, a diplomatic source in the United Nations said.
Earlier Sunday, North Korea launched a long-range rocket from the country's northwest.
The source told RIA Novosti that the session, likely to be held Sunday, was being convened on the initiative of the Western members of the council.
The exact time for the consultations is not known yet.
