At Least 13 people died and 800 were wounded as a result of the latest powerful earthquake on Japan's Kyushu Island, the same island that was struck by a 6.5-magnitude quake on Thursday, the national NHK broadcaster reports, Sputnik reported.

Earlier, the Kyodo news agency reported that the death toll from the quake was 3 people, adding that over 470 people have been taken to the hospital.

According to Kyodo, over 200,000 houses were left without electricity in the area affected by the latest earthquake in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture.

At least 11 people were reportedly buried under the rubble of a collapsed Kyushu Tokai University dormitory building.
