Latest on suicide attack on a demonstration in Kabul, Afghanistan

19:32 (GMT +4) Twin explosions targeting a large demonstration by members of Afghanistan's ethnic Hazara minority in Kabul have killed at least 80 people and wounded more than 230, officials have said, Al Jazeera reported.

The attack on Saturday, near one of the most heavily fortified areas of the Afghan capital, was quickly claimed by the "Islamic State" (ISIL, also known as ISIS), who have previously targeted the Hazara people.

17:09 (GMT +4) At least 61 people were killed and 207 were wounded on Saturday in a suicide attack on a demonstration in Kabul, Reuters reports citing an official from the Public Health Ministry.

The deaths are more than double earlier estimates.

Mohammad Ismail Kawousi, a spokesman for the ministry of public health, said the dead and wounded had been taken to nearby hospitals.

16:33 (GMT +4) An explosion ripped through a demonstration of hundreds of people in Afghanistan's capital of Kabul on Saturday afternoon, killing at least 31 people and injuring more than 160, according to Ismail Kawoosi, a spokesman for the Afghan Health Ministry, CNN reports.

The blast happened where hundreds of people had gathered for a demonstration by the Hazara minority near the Afghan Parliament building and Kabul University.

No immediate claim of responsibility was made. The Taliban denied it was behind Saturday's explosion, according to a statement form Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid.
