Russia’s State Duma passed a law on ratification of an agreement on cooperation in prevention and elimination of emergency situations in the Caspian Sea, RIA Novosti reported Dec. 21.
The agreement was signed in Astrakhan on Sept. 29, 2014, by the governments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.
The agreement envisages cooperation aimed at prevention of emergency situations in the Caspian region, as well as the mutual assistance by the Caspian states in the elimination of emergency situations and others.
