There are forces that are not interested in Turkey's economic development, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan was quoted by TRT Turk TV channel as saying today.

He said these forces want to slow down the country's development by 30 years.

"Turkey pursues an independent policy in the region as it has no debts," he said.

The protests against the reconstruction of Gezi Park on Taksim Square in Istanbul lasted for more than 10 days.

The Istanbul police blocked the roads leading to the square this morning where several groups of people continued protesting.

Earlier, Istanbul's governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu said police will not use force against the protesters on Taksim Square

He added that the purpose of the police is to clean the area from the anti-government posters and remove the barricades.

Earlier, it was reported that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with representatives of the Taksim Square protesters on June 12.
