The employees of Turkey's civil aviation will be screened for alcohol and drugs, head of the civil aviation, Bilal Eksi said on Feb. 6, Anadolu agency reported.
Eksi said that a similar screening of civil aviation personnel is a common practice in many countries.
He also noted that the test for alcohol and drugs will be held later this month.
Earlier, in November 2013, a message from the Turkish Airlines (THY) said that the staff of the airline will be screed for alcohol and drugs.
The tests will cover not only the pilots, but also dispatchers and the airline's service personnel, according to the message.
It has been reported that in 2013 some 15 percent of the company's personnel will be screened.
The total number of Turkish Airlines employees is 15,978 people, 2279 of which are working abroad, according to the airlines.
